1. How many weddings do you host at one time?
We only host one wedding at a time, however a social event can be booked in our Pondview room (alternating timing). For exclusivity during your event, there is an additional fee. This includes your choice of a one hour after party or additional desserts during the last hour of your 4-hour reception.
Our daytime buyout is available and you and your bridal party are welcome to arrive as early as 10am. Outside food and beverage is not permitted, please inquire about W.E. breakfast and lunch options. Venue tours may still be in progress prior to your guest arrival time.
2. Do you have a back-up ceremony room if the weather does not permit us to have a ceremony outside?
Yes, we do! The Summerwind ballroom dance floor can be transformed into a ceremony space. If you book the exclusivity, our beautiful Pondivew room can be used for a ceremony space instead. Both rooms have the perfect ambiance to say your I do’s and will not interfere with setting up your reception in the Summerwind Ballroom.
3. What time should I put on the invitation?
“Ceremony/Cocktail Hour to begin promptly at (contracted time)”
Naturally, guests will arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the invitation. Putting an earlier time will cut into Bridal Party photo time. Once guests are seated, your processional will begin.
4. How long is the ceremony?
The on-site ceremony fee covers 30 minutes. Please inform your clergy as to avoid extending into cocktail hour time.
5. What happens if family arrives late for bridal party photos?
Water’s Edge event timing cannot be affected due to tardiness. Your maitred will gladly present an alternative photo plan.
6. Is a first look prior to the ceremony recommended?
Yes! It is highly recommended because without a first look, be prepared to take couples’ photos during cocktail hour.
7. In the event of inclement weather, when is the indoor ceremony decided?
The indoor ceremony is decided no later than noon on your wedding day. A daytime wedding will be determined the night prior to the wedding.
8. Is there a chance Mill Pond will be at low tide during my ceremony?
We are the only Long Island salt-water water-view venue which the Town of Huntington’s Harbor Master regulates the dam Thursdays through Sundays to avoid mudflats and low-tide during our events.
9. Do I have to pay extra for valet service?
No. Valet service is included in your wedding package. We have two valet lots, one to accommodate your bridal party and family and another 5-acre lot to accommodate guests. Guests will be greeted by valet in our courtyard.
10. Are there any restrictions at your property I should know about?
Yes. CO2 Blast, smoke machines, confetti machines or fire pits are strictly prohibited. We do allow cold sparklers ONLY for introductions and first dance. In addition to cold sparklers, we allow a sparkler exit outside on our back patio. Lastly, we do not allow alcohol shots during your reception of any outside food to enter the premises.
11. Are you handicap accessible?
Yes. We have an elevator that takes guests to all three floors.
12. What bakery do your wedding cakes come from?
Our cakes and pastries come from Batter Up Cakes
Clients are responsible for ordering the cake for the event. Please schedule a cake tasting with them and choose your wedding cake design. It is highly recommended to schedule your tasting during the week or a non-holiday weekend. Dortoni’s will deliver your cake on the day of your wedding.
13. Do you have a suite for the groom to get ready in?
Yes, we are one of the few wedding venues that do! Our groom salon has full surround sound, television sports package, snacks, and beverages. We include a complimentary hour and a half arrival time prior to the start of your ceremony or cocktail hour.
14. When do we have access to the bridal suite?
We include a complimentary hour and a half arrival time prior to the start of your ceremony or cocktail hour. This allows access to both the bridal and groom suites where both groomsmen and bridesmaids can enjoy snacks and beverages. Hair and makeup preparation is NOT permitted in our suites.
15. Do you have a staff member that can help set up decor on the wedding day?
Our staff only sets up your menu cards, place cards and linens. All other décor must be set up by a vendor.
16. Are there any décor restrictions?
The client is responsible for providing menu cards and signature drink signs.
However, we do provide floor standing easels, cocktail table votives, and table numbers. Candles are permitted for tabletop décor; however, floor candles must be faux. All flower walls, floor wraps and photo booths must be provided through a vendor who will submit a certificate of insurance to our venue. Any décor such as neon light signs must be free standing. Only white fresh rose petals are permitted for wedding ceremony aisle and for guest throwing (no
confetti, rice, or artificial flowers) Nothing can be adhered to our walls, ceilings, light fixtures, or mirrors.
17. Do you offer any discount wedding packages during the year?
We do! We have winter specials we offer during the months of January, February, and March.
18. Do you offer tastings?
We do not offer tastings; however, we are happy to provide references from recent events regarding our cuisine.
19. Can our items be left overnight?
Due to the high volume of events at Waters Edge, all belongings must be taken home at the conclusion of the event. Water’s Edge is not responsible for storage of personal items that are left behind.
OUTSIDE FOOD AND BEVERAGES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED UNLESS HIRED BY ONE OF OUR APPROVED HOUSE VENDORS. OUR HOUSE VENDORS HAVE PROVIDED US WITH THEIR LIABILITY INSURANCE CERTIFICATE ANF THEIR NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CERTIFICATE.
